Description:

clay beads/pebbles/ represent an inorganic substrate obtained by forming balls of clay and their baking at a temperature of 1200 ° C. During this procedure the clay ball is expanding and becomes cavity.

Since clay beads do not contain nutrients, the plants that are being used in this substrate must be further fed to fertilizers to allow them to grow normally and develop.

The function of clay beads is multiple. They primarily provide oxygen to the root system by easily dissolving without retaining excess water in the root system zone. 

In this way, the relationship between water-air pores in the soil is harmonized.

Clay beads are most often used in drainage systems, although they can also be used in the production of rose and other plants that require oily land.

If clay beads are used several times, the disinfection of pellets is very important before each reuse.

Disinfection is carried out as follows: balls are dipped in a solution of three-percent hydrogen and water

(ratio 30:70), in which they must stand for 12 h. After this, it is necessary to rinse the balls well

with water several times. This procedure is necessary because the fertilizer is inserted into the pores of 

the pellet during use, which can negatively affect the new young plants grown in previously used clay beads.
